The preferred supplier agreements allow UTS students and staff to purchase computers and selected peripherals at discounted prices. Arrangements are made directly between the purchaser and the vendor, however should you require general advice about a computer system or peripheral, IT Purchasing staff are available to assist.
Please note: Pricing is quoted by the vendors. Transaction and payment methods may differ among suppliers. Please review offerings from all suppliers before making a decision. All purchases are for personal use only. UTS is unable to provide any support. Technical support and warranty issues are to be handled directly with the supplier.
The following preferred suppliers offer discounts to UTS students and staff from time to time.
Insight - Staff Software
Insight is one of the major software suppliers to the University of Technology and with this relationship IT Purchasing has arranged special educational pricing on major software titles for staff from Microsoft.
*Please be advised that each staff member is only eligible for ONE copy of each product.
Home use rights for the products listed are extended to academic and administrative staff only. If you are no longer an employee of UTS, you must ensure that you delete and remove all copies of software provided through this website from the temporary memory (RAM) and permanent memory (e.g. hard disk) of your computers.
Use your UTS staff number as your username when you log in. You may need to synchronise your access to the UTS LDAP directory listing by doing one of the following, depending on whether you have activated your email account.
If you have already activated your account, you must change your password by selecting the 'My Account' option available. Proceed to log in via your existing password and then select 'MyPassword" to reset your password. You will then be able to access the software as listed below.
Microsoft - Student Software
The Microsoft Store (opens an external website) provides students with discounted academic pricing on the following software titles:
- Office 365 University (4-year subscription for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Mac OSX)
- Windows 8 Pro Student (upgrade from Windows XP SP3, Vista, 7 or 8 Preview)
Once at the store, hover your mouse pointer over Student and then click Student in the resulting menu.
You will need to verify your eligibility in order to purchase each license. You can verify by using the first option Get verified through my School and then enter “University of Technology Sydney”. Continue the process by using your UTS email address - Microsoft checks that it’s a legitimate educational address before allowing you to purchase.
